We are really fussy about backups, and rightly so. Your wedding photography is very precious; there is only one chance to shoot it. As professional wedding photographers, backing up is an essential practice and part of our work
We have five back up regimes
Firstly we make backups of the original wedding photographs – we make 4 backups: Local DVD, offsite DVD, onto a laptop, onto our main computer systems. The DVD’s are “tough disks” they are chosen for resilience to scratching and length of life
Secondly we pop the memory card from your wedding in a safe until al of the processing from your wedding is finished
Thirdly we back up the processed wedding photographs, and any edits that are done, both on and off site
Fourthly we visit the backups every five years and duplicate them. We recently converted the CD’s from 5 years ago to DVD
Only when the wedding is fully processed, do we delete the originals off the memory card
Finally, we carefully store our old used PC / NAS hard drives, the software we used etc.
Things like backup systems are the difference between photographers and professional wedding photographers. We have sat down, and devised a process, that is pretty bullet proof. We have included this information as a glimpse into the extraordinary efforts we make to provide the very best wedding photography service
