I didn’t truly expect to like Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), as that sort of thing is not my cup of tea anyway; but I wanted to, because it has a female director (Cathy Yan), the batman costume a female screenwriter (Christina Hodson) and two out of three female producers (Margot Robbie and Sue Kroll). It’s not as if they didn’t try. For families with young children, the zoo will offer “merry” activities such a carousel called the Scareousel; meet-and greets with Star Wars, princess and superhero characters; a fun-house maze; tarot and psychic readings and a pirate-themed area called Pirates of the Scare-ibbean: Blackbeard’s Revenge.
